Real Madrid are under maximum pressure to win against Deportivo La Coruna after Barcelona staged a miraculous comeback against Sevilla on Saturday.
The Catalans made sure of retaining the top spot in La Liga thanks to goals from Cesc Fabregas and David Villa. Hosts Sevilla had taken a stunning 2-0 lead through Piotr Trochowski’s left-footed shot in the first period and Negredo’s 48th minute strike.

However, Barcelona were determined to turn the tables around. Cesc Fabregas reduced his side's deficit after 53 minutes. Inside the 71st minute of the match, G. Medel was sent off for allegedly head-butting Fabregas although replays suggested the latter over-reacted.

This numerical disadvantage apparently affected Sevilla. Fabregas again was at the centre of the action when he beat the offside trap to score a vital equalizer in the 89th minute.

David Villa completed the visitors’ comeback with an unstoppable shot deep into stoppage time. With three points in the bag, Barcelona maintained their perfect run in La Liga after six matches.

Their victory against 10-man Sevilla also means the Catalans hold an is an 11-point advantage over bitter rivals Real Madrid. The gap could be reduced to eight points on Sunday.

Los Blancos have no room for error although the league campaign is still in its early stages. Last weekend, they accomplished their mission by defeating Rayo Vallecano 2-0 away from home. Afterward, Jose Mourinho revealed his satisfaction but insisted his team have more work to hit their groove.

Against Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday night, the reigning La Liga champions will be looking to record their second home win of the season.

It has been eight years since Real Madrid last conceded defeat against the Galicians at the Santiago Bernabeu. An upset would terribly jeopardize the recovery work Jose Mourinho and his men are trying to do.
