Ex-Fulham forward Brian McBride believes that Liverpool and USA striker Clint Dempsey would make a great match.
Brian McBride spoke to Goal.com this week as Clint Dempsey remains determined to leave Craven Cottage. The 29-year-old hit a personal record by scoring 23 goals for Fulham in 46 appearances last season.

According to transfer reports, no bid has been placed for Dempsey but Brian McBride claims that Liverpool could be the player’s perfect destination. He told Goal.com:

“If you’re asking me if I think Clint can succeed [at Liverpool]? For sure. He’s got not only the talent and the ability but he’s a very determined individual.

“He adapts extremely well to so many different situations. Take Fulham for example. He’s had four or five different coaches. He’s always put his head down and showed them what he’s made of.

“I think that’s a sign of not only a very good player but one that is able to adapt and make the transition regardless of who the manager is.”

The transfer window shuts down in less than two weeks and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to make a few more signings.

After bringing in Fabio Borini earlier this summer, the ex-Swansea City manager may want to add another striker to the Liverpool squad to support Uruguayan star Luis Suarez. In the meantime, talks over a possible exit for Andy Carroll continue.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's focus will switch from matters on transfer market to the football on the pitch. The Merseyside Reds have to bounce back from a stunning 3-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion.

Liverpool are at home to English Premier League champions Manchester City this weekend.
