Barcelona and Real Madrid both kick-off their 2012 summer club friendly period on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.The 2011/12 club football season was a long one for the Catalans and Los Blancos. In June, many of their stars featured at UEFA Euro 2012. Some represented semi-finalists Portugal while the majority teamed up to don the colours of eventual champions Spain.

After experiencing a lot in Poland and Ukraine, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Ramos, Iker Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and company gear up for the 2012/13 Spanish La Liga, UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey campaigns.

Before that, however, Barcelona and Real Madrid face off in the 2012 Supercopa de Espana’s two-legged tie.

 

La Liga runners-up and Copa del Rey champions Barcelona are determined to reclaim authority at the very top. The hunt for glory starts right now with an international club friendly match against German side Hamburg.

Barcelona will be without their Spanish internationals; they are currently enjoying extended holidays. Meanwhile, striker David Villa is still not fit enough to play his first match of the year 2012.

However, three-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi is expected to grace the pitch in Germany. In his first ever match in charge as head coach, Tito Vilanova has called upon 10 Barcelona first team names and 12 youth players.
