Roy Hodgson’s UEFA Euro 2012 squad selection, marked by the idea of choosing John Terry over Rio Ferdinand has thrown the media and a large portion of England fans into disbelief and fury.
With his cheating scandal in 2010 and his racial case against Ferdinand’s brother Anton, John Terry has transformed into an image of disgust in the eyes of many England supporters. Despite heavy criticism, Roy Hodgson is staying put. He is certain that his faith in the 2012 Champions League winner will pay off.

“We all know John's qualities. We all know what a good centre-half he is and what a warrior he is,” Hodgson stated according to Sporting Life.

“We also know he is capable of taking other players with him, not least of all his team-mate Ashley Cole, with whom he is used to playing.”

John Terry will feature at Euro 2012 without carrying the captain’s armband for England. However, coach Roy Hodgson believes that the Chelsea veteran will overcome emotions and criticism from the media with an exemplary performance during the tournament.

“I'm just hoping John will show all the qualities I have seen from him over many years with England. I'm convinced he is determined to do that.

“He feels this is a great opportunity to show the very best of what he can do.”

Terry’s test at UEFA Euro 2012 with England begins on June 11 against France at the Donbass Arena.
