There will be no sympathy from Anthony Gerrard for cousin Steven Gerrard when underdogs Cardiff City will clash against Liverpool at Wembley in the Carling Cup final.
Anthony Gerrard has been living in the shadow of his cousin, Steven Gerrard. On Sunday, the Cardiff City player will have the opportunity to upset the Liverpool captain in front of an expected full-house at Wembley. Millions of spectators across the globe will also witness the 2011/12 Carling Cup final live.

Anthony Gerrard is anxiously waiting for things to unfold on Sunday. His eyes are firmly on the cup although Cardiff City have already lost to Liverpool on paper. Steven Gerrard has been singled out by pundits as the man to watch at Wembley but Anthony wants his team to overcome his cousin. He told the press in the build up to the final:

“If he [Steven Gerrard] goes through one-on-one in the last minute and we are winning, let's be honest, I am going to take him out!

“I'm not going to lie. He has too many winners’ medals! If this is my only chance to get a winner's medal, I must take that opportunity.

“He would do exactly the same thing if he was in my place. We are born-and-bred winners. You don't achieve what he has done by settling for second-best.”

Steven Gerrard, who hasn’t won silverware since 2005, is poised to lift the 2012 Carling Cup trophy with favourites Liverpool. However, the veteran Merseyside Reds player may encounter difficulties as the chances of Cardiff City cannot be ruled out.
