Due to the impressive recent form of both clubs the eagerly awaited Milan derby could go either way.
Arch-rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan will lock horns in the latest edition of the Derby della Madonnina at the San Siro stadium on Sunday. The clash is expected to be a mouthwatering affair due to the fact that the rivals have been in unstoppable form in recent weeks.

While Inter come into the derby with five consecutive victories under their belt, including a 5-0 demolition of Parma on Saturday, Italian champions Milan have been in equally good form, having recently returned to the top of Serie A with 10 wins and 2 draws from their last twelve outings.

Both clubs had started their 2011-12 Serie A campaigns in disastrous manner, but have since turned things around due in great part to the fact that their key players have returned to top form.

While Inter Milan goal-poacher Diego Milito seems to have returned to his best, with a two-goal performance against Parma, Milan scoring-machine Zlatan Ibrahimovic found the back of the net against Atalanta on Sunday. In doing this not only did the Swede move to the top of the Serie A scoring charts, alongside Atalanta's German Denis with twelve goals, but he became the first player since Andriy Shevchenko to score in five consecutive league matches.

Milan have had the upper-hand over their rivals in recent encounters, with three straight victories, with the last coming in August when they beat Inter 2-1 in the Supercoppa Italiana in Beijing. Before Milan regained control of the derby, Inter had won four successive matches, including a 4-0 humiliation of Milan in 2009.

It is important to note that there hasn't been a draw in the Derby della Madonnina in the past 17 encounters between the sides, with the last coming in 2004 when the sides fought out a goalless draw in a Serie A fixture. Since that result, Milan have a 9 to 8 advantage over their rivals.

While it is difficult to predict the outcome of Sunday's derby, both teams will be able to count with full-strength squads. Inter boss Claudio Ranieri will be delighted with the fact that attackers Diego Forlan and Wesley Sneijder have recovered from injury and will be able to take part in the clash.

No matter what the outcome will be the Milan-Inter derby is expected to be a fascinating encounter between arguably two of the strongest sets of teams in recent history. Who do you think will take the derby come Sunday?
