Argentine youngster Erik Lamela scored twice against Fiorentina to send Roma into the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.
AS Roma will meet Juventus in an intriguing Coppa Italia quarter-final after hammering Fiorentina 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday.

After a relatively quiet first half which ended scoreless, Roma put on a dominating second half display to kill off their opponents with three goals that arrived within the space of twenty-two minutes.

Former River Plate midfielder Erik Lamela opened the scoring for Roma in the 53rd minute when he fired the ball through the legs of Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto after good lead-up work from Roma captain Francesco Totti.

Immediately after going behind two glorious opportunities fell to Fiorentina but somehow they managed to spurn them both, first through Manuel Pasqual and then through Alessio Cerci.

From the run of play Lamela doubled Roma's advantage, when in the 66th minute Fabio Borini and Totti combined to set-up the youngster who created space for himself before slotting the ball home.

Nine minutes later Fiorentina handed Roma their third goal, when Neto made a horrible mistake in passing the ball straight to Borini, who dashed into the area and punished Fiorentina with a superb finish.

Having made light work of Fiorentina, Roma advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition where they will face Juventus.

Chievo also secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia after defeating Udinese 2-1 thanks to a dramatic 91st-minute winner from French substitute Cyril Thereau.

Midfielder Paolo Sammarco had put the visitors ahead in the 9th minute before Udinese scoring-machine Antonio Di Natale drew his side level in the 84th minute. But when it seemed that the match would head into extra-time the hosts couldn't do anything to prevent Thereau's goal.

With their upset win, Chievo will meet Siena in the quarter-finals of the competition.
