Real Madrid got back to their best on Saturday night, putting their defeat in El Clasico behind. 10-man Los Blancos forced 10-man Sevilla to a 6-2 defeat.
Following his impotent display against Barcelona at the Bernabeu, Cristiano Ronaldo became the center of attraction ahead of the Sevilla encounter. But the Portuguese number 7 responded to his critics with an energetic performance throughout.

Ronaldo broke the deadlock inside the 10th minute after combining well with assist maker Di Maria. Varas was left with absolutely no chance. A couple of minutes later, Manu went extremely close to leveling the score for Sevilla.

Casillas, however, had the last word. The Spaniard’s acrobatic save denied the hosts from getting a goal. Javi Varas suffered punishment for a second time in the game as Callejon continued his great form by netting a 37th minute strike.

Cristiano Ronaldo reminded the public about his presence on the pitch by bagging a brace 4 minutes before half-time. Ronaldo’s 25-yard shot was simply unstoppable.

Pepe’s 44th minute sending off didn’t prevent Real Madrid from triumphing in Andalusia. The damage was already done. The scoreboard read 3-0 for Mourinho’s men at that moment.

Jesus Navas pulled one back for his team inside the 69th minute after Di Maria had made it 4-0 a few moments earlier. Manu worsened Sevilla’s misery on the night when he received his marching others with a quarter of an hour remaining. The striker was accused of tackling Alvaro Arbeloa from behind.

Controversially, Xabi Alonso didn’t even get booked for a similar foul quickly after. Finally, Cristiano Ronaldo’s chance to clinch a hat-trick occurred in the 85th minute as Benzema won a penalty for Real Madrid through a challenge from Fazio.

Los Blancos’ top scorer didn’t miss his spot kick although Varas came inches away from saving it. Jose Mourinho subsequently replaced Karim Benzema with Hamit Altintop in a substitution which proved to be perfect. Altintop scored his debut goal for Real Madrid in simple fashion.

Negredo scored Sevilla’s second goal of the match in injury time to end this wonderful 8-goal contest at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.
