Real Madrid to land Neymar in July 2011 as a £53M deal is in place – report
It looks like Real Madrid have finally clinched victory in the race for Santos and Brazil’s adventurous kid, Neymar...

Neymar will kick off his adventure in Europe with a move to Real Madrid, according to reports.
According to ESPNsoccernet, “a £53 million deal is in place” to materialize a transfer from Brazil to Madrid for Neymar. The total fee of the deal could reach £150 million considering the value of image rights and commercial agreements among other factors.
“Neymar will be a Real Madrid player in July, but he is not going there any earlier. He has not signed a contract as yet,” a source told ESPN.
Current Santos player Neymar expressed his desire to join Chelsea at several occasions in the past. However, a switch to Barcelona seemed more likely. Earlier in September, as talks between Santos and Barca were reportedly unproductive for the Catalans, defender Dani Alves told the press:
“If it was up to me, Neymar would be here already. You know my opinion about him. He is a person I have a soft spot for.”
Neymar was in the news again recently with Brazilian superstar Roberto Carlos stating the following, according to ESPN:
“I hope Neymar is intelligent and is not just limited to Brazil. I told Neymar to stop messing around and join Real Madrid when I spoke to him last week.
“I said he ought to sign for them now. However, he is like a superstar in Brazil and people are stopping him from leaving. Neymar is like the Cristiano Ronaldo of Santos - a leading player, but I hope he signs for Madrid.”
