Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho seems to have found a good chemistry for Los Blancos in midfield and Xabi Alonso is absolutely pleased with that.
The Spaniard talked to the press on Thursday during the presentation of FIFA 12.
“Using [Mesut] Ozil and Kaka together gives us many options and considerable mobility. The manager opted for this against Ajax and it gave us very good results,” Xabi Alonso said before adding:
“It was a game of control and we played a straightforward style within which I felt very comfortable.”
After going through an unfortunate run away to Levante and Racing Santander, Real Madrid bounced back with an incredible 6-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu. They followed up this great result with a 3-0 defeat of Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.
Xabi Alonso believes in his team’s potential and unity as well as in Mourinho’s ability to manage the squad week in, week out.
“It's still the start of the season and we have enough time to recover between a Tuesday and a Sunday. We have a tight schedule and the manager will have to use all of us,” he continued.
“It's difficult to play with one man alone in midfield. We must all help out in attack and in defense. Everything works when we all get involved.”
This weekend, La Liga will resume for Real Madrid with a fixture away to Espanyol. Los Blancos are currently 1 point and 3 places behind arch-rivals Barcelona as they occupy the 5th spot in the standings.
