In a quick round-up of the latest action on the transfer market, deals involving Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are highlighted.
There has been a return to Liverpool for Craig Bellamy. The controversial winger became an outcast at Manchester City but a 2-year deal at Anfield could see his professional career revive. In other news related to Liverpool, Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles has united with fellow countryman Andre Villas-Boas by joining Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur got Scott Parker from West Ham United in a London switch whereas Arsenal made a late swoop for Everton’s Mikel Arteta. The £10M transfer saw Arteta pen a 4-year contract with the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta, who has now joined summer signings Gervinho, Andre Santos, Per Mertesacker, Park Chu-Young and Benayoun, is expected to help fill the void caused by the departure of Fabregas and Nasri. Everton, besides, have acquired the services of Royston Drenthe on a loan deal while Nicklas Bendtner has gone on loan to Sunderland.

Elsewhere in Europe, Diego Forlan completed his transfer from Atletico Madrid to Internazionale in time. The 2010 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner was quoted as saying by Sky Sport 24:

“I am happy to be here. Inter are a very important club, with great players. I want to play well and win. I promise all the Inter fans I will do my best to help the club reach their goals.”

The Italian Serie A is yet to resume due to a strike. Fans will have to wait to know whether Forlan was a good buy. In the meantime, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero are certain contenders for this year’s best summer signing. And what are your picks?
