Football fans are all aware of the saga involving Cesc Fabregas and Barcelona. The same type of issues currently puts Samir Nasri in transfer exit speculations. But Fabregas and Nasri have developed into the Gunners’ most important players, so Arsene Wenger wouldn’t want to lose any of them.
Arsenal are already in a delicate situation: pre-season results haven’t been very positive, they have a 6-year title drought to end and they are now facing a bigger challenge for domestic success with billionaires Manchester City joining the race. Pundits believe that there’s some misunderstanding between the ambitions of Arsenal’s chiefs and the ambitions of Arsenal’s supporters. The club’s performance on the transfer market seems to highlight this.
In the meantime, the level of belief within the team keeps suffering severe blows. Some months ago, for example, Cesc Fabregas was involved in a controversial interview in which he analyzed Arsene Wenger’s management of the club as a place to develop the youth rather than a place to clinch trophies at the major level.
In a way or another, Fabregas’ claims were echoed by former Arsenal defender Gael Clichy. The French international voiced out his frustration at being unsuccessful following his move to Manchester City. Gael Clichy—whose team recently lost the 2011 FA Community Shield to local rivals Manchester United—had stated that winning trophies at Eastlands seemed more of a possibility than at the Emirates Stadium.
Whether Clichy’s opinion might sound true or false to the general public, the present reality is that Arsene Wenger must deal with the commitment factor of his stars. Cesc Fabregas has long been dreaming of returning to Barcelona where he learned his football. Samir Nasri, meanwhile, is more or less involved in transfer speculations.

Now Arsene Wenger is playing a dangerous game. The Arsenal boss named the duo in his roster for the Gunners’ upcoming two-legged UEFA Champions League play-off against Udinese. This decision holds a lot of meaning.
Fact 1: If Fabregas and Nasri feature for Arsenal against Udinese, they will automatically become cup-tied for their next club should they quit the Gunners this season. The question is, why will any team—be it Barcelona (for Fabregas) or Manchester City (for Nasri) as per transfer reports—spend a huge amount of money on the transfer market only to acquire the services of a player who won’t even be available for Champions League football?
Fact 2: The thinking, now, is that Nasri and Fabregas’ inclusion in Arsenal’s European squad list is a loud call for Barca and Man City to tie things up as soon as possible. The question is, ‘will these clubs splash the cash that will suit Arsenal’s needs?’ Should the answer to this question be positive, then Wenger would make some big money from the sale of the duo. Indeed, enough money to sign a superstar this summer before August 31 comes.
Transfer news involving Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri are yet to be put to bed. The few days to come before Arsenal’s meetings against Udinese on August 16 and August 24 are crucial.
