The 2011 FA Community Shield match between Manchester United and Manchester City might not be that glamorous…
It has been announced that Gold Cup champion Javier Hernandez won’t feature at Wembley on Sunday. Coach Alex Ferguson talked about the striker’s chances of playing by telling reporters:

“Hernandez is still two to three weeks away. He should be back at the end of August. Considering he had a concussion some years ago, we're playing it safe.”

Midfielder Michael Carrick is also believed to be suffering from an Achilles injury whereas defender Rafael is yet to recover from a knock he picked during Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona on July 30. But the Red Devils aren’t the only one to be hit with injury news.

Manchester City supporters may also have to deal with the massive absence of new signing Sergio Aguero. The Argentine striker, who left Atletico Madrid for £35M recently, didn’t train with the Sky Blues on Wednesday and Thursday.

Aguero could however start the 2011 FA Community Shield against Manchester United from the bench. More info from Manchester City’s camp also remind that Carlos Tevez is enjoying an extended holiday which will end on Monday.

The ex-Manchester United striker, besides, is still at the center of some transfer business and his exclusion from Sunday’s battle has been confirmed. Edin Dzeko and the controversial Balotelli are therefore expected to assume Manchester City’s attacking role in Roberto Mancini’s starting XI.

A week ago, Manchester United assistant coach has described the 2011 FA Community Shield match against Manchester City as nothing different to the Red Devils’ pre-season encounters. Spectators at the Wembley Stadium will be hoping to see a great show of football all the same as the Sky Blues plot another upset.
