Having spent a season on-loan at Sunderland, Danny Welbeck is absolutely convinced on the importance of gaining some first team opportunities, just like Wilshere did at Bolton
Danny Welbeck is set to be given a shot at regular football with Manchester United this season after Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that he will not be looking to loan out the England U-21 International. Welbeck spent last season on-loan with Sunderland and was impressive, with Steve Bruce apparently eyeing him as a permanent signing.

But even he is excited about being a Manchester United player ahead of the upcoming season and made comparisons between himself and Jack Wilshere. The Arsenal teenager spent some significant time on loan at Bolton Wanderers two seasons ago and since then; there hasn't been any turning back.

"I am really happy to be back. Jack Wilshere is a prime example of how things work. He went to Bolton and did really well, then he has gone back to Arsenal and kicked on. It is something quite a few of the young boys look at him and think, 'if he can do it, so can we'."

United currently have massive options in the forward department with the likes of Rooney, Hernandez, Berbatov, Diouf, Owen and Macheda all competing for team spots with Welbeck. Nevertheless, the United youngster believes that his experience at the Stadium of Light last season will do him a great deal of assistance.

"The time at Sunderland has benefited me massively. It was a different part of my career. I went there as a boy and came back as a man. I am really happy with the way things went. I am always looking to improve.

"It would mean a lot to me to make it at United. It is the biggest club in the world. I am always going to strive to make it at United. I would be delighted to do that."

Welbeck is currently with the Manchester United team on pre-season tour in the United States of America.
