The summer transfer window is still heating up with more deals and debatable statements popping up, and many are wishing that Wesley Sneijder could turn into Manchester United’s midfield maestro.
As part of their operation to find a replacement for the retired Paul Scholes, the Red Devils have been making much effort in signing midfielders with high reputation. On their list was Tottenham’s Luka Modric, but with the Croatian international being unlikely to land at the Old Trafford, the attention is now seriously on Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder.

The Dutchman has played a big role for the Nerazzurri since his arrival at the San Siro, and his services are consequently nothing but expensive and wanted. While transfer negotiations could in fact break down, Manchester United’s assistant manager has revealed that Sneijder would be the perfect player to take over Scholes’ position.

"The new Paul Scholes doesn't exist, just as a new Roy Keane has never emerged, but Sneijder would fit perfectly here (in the midfield)," Meulensteen told Voetbal International.

"[…] And of course, Wesley has the necessary experience in top-level football. I don't know what his future is at Inter… whether he may leave or whether he's affordable; but purely based on football skills, I say get Sneijder."
