Robinho has stepped into the Neymar vs Pele debate by attempting to stop any comparison between the sensational youngster and Brazil’s greatest football legend.
Neymar is arguably the hottest striker in World Football right now. The youngster is fresh from his heroic exploits with Santos in the Copa Libertadores and he’s been tipped to move mountains during the 2011 Copa America.

This tournament could see Neymar’s career with the national team hit really high standards and some have already portrayed the player as “the new Pele”.

However, although Brazil international Robinho admires the youngster, he has made it clear that Pele can never be rivaled. The AC Milan forward reportedly told Globoesporte on Thursday:

“Pele is the ‘King of Football’. Every young, Black player who appears at Santos is called Pele. But people need to know how to differentiate that because Pele was a myth.

“There hasn’t been anyone similar to Pele and there will never be one. Another Pele will not be born. Each player needs to make their own history. Neymar is already making his very well.

“In his short time as a professional, he has already won important trophies for Santos. And we, on the field, need to put comparisons aside and try only to play football.”
