YouTube has acquired the rights to broadcast the Copa America 2011 competition live on YouTube.
Google has announced that all 26 Copa America matches will be streamed live on YouTube. The event which takes place in Argentina and starts July 1st, will be streamed live in 54 countries.

YouTube will showcase its live sports broadcasting on the Copa America channel located at YouTube.com/copaamerica.

Broadcasting geo-restrictions will be available soon on Live Soccer TV.

With the addition of the Copa America competition, Google adds to it's live sports portfolio after acquiring the rights to the Indian Premier League cricket competition last year.

This highlights Google's desire to become an important player in delivering much sought after live sports online. According to Gautam Anand of Google, fans can expect additional live sports in 2011. "It is fair to say that there will be a lot more appealing sports content you'll see on YouTube," stated in February 2011, "We have ongoing conversations with pretty much everyone."

Copa America 2011 will include the following participating nations: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Brazil is the current holder of the last Copa America which took place in 2007 in Venezuela, where they beat Argentina 3-0 in the final.
