The Liverpool striker scored under just one minute in Wednesday's Champions League clash with Midtjylland.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah landed two club records for his goal contribution in Wednesday's Champions League encounter with Midtjylland. The 28-year-old Egyptian winger scored in the first minute of the game which ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw at the MCH Arena in Denmark.

With Liverpool having already qualified for the knockout stage of this season's competition, there was not much to play for in the night's encounter. However, Salah managed to set the tone for his side to dominate by scoring in just 55 seconds following kick-off. The player and his teammates continued to push for another goal but were able to do so before Alexander Scholz scored a penalty to tie the game for spoils to be shared.

In retrospect, Mohamed Salah's goal now stands as the quickest-ever goal scored by a Liverpool player in the history of the UEFA Champions League. In addition, the strike took the Egyptian attacker's overall tally in the competition to 22, surpassing Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the club's top goalscorer in the history of the European competition. He managed the feat in 39 appearances while the former England international needed 73 games to reach 21 goals.
