Preview: Chelsea vs Krasnodar

Fresh off battling to a 3-1 win against Leeds thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Kurt Zouma, and Christian Pulisic that temporarily took them to the top of the table, Chelsea now turn their attention back to European action and wrapping up their group stage campaign. The Blues have already qualified for the round of 16 and will do so as group winners following their well-deserved 4-0 win over Sevilla in their penultimate game, with World Cup winner Giroud having one of the best games of his career as he scored a poker against the serial Europa League champions to take the pressure off Frank Lampard's side.

With that task now completed, Chelsea can certainly relax a bit ahead of the arrival of Krasnodar on Tuesday evening, but not too much. The Blues boast a perfect winning record against Russian teams, and they certainly will not want to see that record fall. Moreover, they can set a new club record if they can again beat their upcoming opponents: 16 points will be the highest ever total the Blues have accumulated during a group stage campaign in Chelsea's history.

As for Krasnodar, they will be featuring in the Europa League next year, regardless of the outcome of this game. Even if Rennes, who have pick up just one point in what has been a miserable campaign, earn their first win over Sevilla, it will not be enough to see them leap-frog the Russian outfit.

Team news: Chelsea vs Krasnodar

Chelsea: Both Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi will miss this upcoming fixture due to hamstring injuries, but youngster Billy Gilmour is expected to feature after finally recovering from knee surgery. Of note will be the man in between the posts: Kepa Arrizabalaga is anticipated to make his first appearance for the Blues in nearly two months as Lampard looks to give Edouard Mendy a much-needed break.

Krasnodar: The visitors may be missing Kristoffer Olsson and Yuri Gazinski for this tie.
