As the second edition of El Clasico marathon looms ahead, Fernando Morientes has backed his former club, Real Madrid to finally lift their first trophy under Jose Mourinho

Two titanic teams are set for a gigantic clash in the Copa del Rey final later tonight with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi set to renew their endless battles in aiming to become the greatest ever player. Real Madrid are being considered as underdogs by many and Barcelona are imminent favourites to lift the trophy like what Live Soccer TV explained HERE.

However, Fernando Morientes is optimistic about his former club's chances of getting one over their arch rivals tonight. The fact that Los Blancos managed to secure a draw against the Catalans despite being down to 10 men has encouraged Morientes to believe and have faith in Madrid's chaces tonight.

According to Marca, Morientes said: "I think that the momentum lies with Real Madrid after last weekend's match. The way in which they bounced back after being reduced to ten men showed that they have what it takes to beat Barcelona.

"Barcelona are no longer as strong as they were four or five months ago. I'm convinced that Real Madrid will beat them to win this year's Copa del Rey."

Jose Mourinho and his men will be hoping that Morientes' prediction comes true as they seek to end Pep Guardiola's unbeaten run against them later tonight.
