Following their surprise scoreless stalemate against Poland, Italy will hope to get back to winning ways as they host the Netherlands on matchday four of the 2020/2021 UEFA Nations League.

Preview: Italy vs Netherlands

After a very disappointing scoreless stalemate against Poland, Italy will be looking to rebound as they host the Netherlands. The draw in Poland means that the Azzurri now only sit just one point ahead of the Oranje, with Poland also keen on trying to break into the top two after successfully preventing Roberto Mancini's men from leaving with all three points. With Poland set to take on bottom-placed Bosnia, the pressure will be on both Italy and the Netherlands to get a good result from this match, and the visitors will be even more determined following their 1-0 loss to Italy on matchday two of this competition.

The scoreless draw marks the first time in nearly two years that Italy failed to score; the last time the Azzurri fired blanks was on November 17, 2018, when they were unable to find a way past eventual 2018/2019 UEFA Nations League winners Portugal in the group stages.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands were held to a surprise draw with struggling Bosnia, and to make matters worse, they again failed to score a goal, so both teams will be eager to get off the mark in this upcoming clash. So far, the Oranje, who finished as runners-up at the inaugural UEFA Nations League tournament, have yet to win a single match since Frank de Boer took over from Ronald Koeman following the latter's departure for Camp Nou. That includes a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mexico in a friendly, followed by the most recent negative result against a Bosnia side who, prior to that game, had picked up just one point - which interestingly enough, was at the expense of Italy.

With just one point dividing Italy and the Netherlands, both sides will naturally be gunning to get back on track quickly as should Poland win against Bosnia, they will find themselves in second and third place respectively. However, the visitors will be battling for more than just points - they will also be keen on ending a frustrating hoodoo that extends back to EURO 2008. Since beating the Azzurri 3-0 on the opening day of that match, the Oranje have failed to win their last six meetings with their upcoming hosts.

Team news: Italy vs Netherlands

Italy: No fresh injury or suspension concerns for Italy ahead of this match, but Roberto Mancini will definitely rotate his squad for this must-win tie. Lazio's Ciro Immobile, who surprisingly didn't start despite being his team's top goalscorer at the moment, could likely be featured here as the hosts will look to avoid another scoreless result.

Netherlands: Key attacker Memphis Depay will return to the starting XI after missing his team's last game due to a ban.
