CONMEBOL's World Cup Qualifiers are already underway, and before the International break ends, there will be one more match fo each South American side in their quest to play in the tournament that will be held in 2022.

The national teams of Chile and Colombia will lock horns at Santiago, Chile in what should turn out to be quite an entertaining game. The Chilean side has seen some of their greatest moments in history taking place at this venue, while Colombia is set to prove that they have to be taken seriously as a team that can win the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers.

Chile and Colombia had quite different debuts in the World Cup Qualifiers. Chile lost a controversial match against Uruguay with a 2-1 score, while Colombia claimed three easy points against Venezuela, scoring all goals in the first 45 minutes. Those results leave Chile in seventh place with no points, while Colombia is second in the WCQ behind Brazil.

Chile's boss Reinaldo Rueda has struggled to leave a lasting impression as La Roja's tactician, especially because problems on and off the pitch between some of his top players have not allowed him to have the most talented players around. For this game, Rueda had to make do without Claudio Bravo, Gary Medel, and Diego Valdés, leaving the Chilean side without two of their leaders in defense.

On the other side of the pitch, Colombia's coach Carlos Queiroz decided to leave talented players such as Rafael Santos Borré, Andrés Ibargüen, or Matheus Uribe out of the squad, given that their spots would be properly covered by other footballers. Goalkeeper David Ospina is also out of this game after being quarantined by Napoli due to a couple of COVID-19 cases among the squad.
