Olympiakos will celebrate their league title at home, while the fight for the last playoff spot will be the highlight of the last day of the Greek Super League season.
Olympiakos will seek to finish the season with a perfect home record when they take on relegated Larisa. This will be a match that Olympiakos supporters will look forward to as they will celebrate their league title after the 90 minutes are up.

The real drama on the night however will be for the battle for 5th place and the final playoff spot. A place in Europe next season is on the line as Olympiakos Volos hold a two-point lead over Aris. Volos play host to Panathinaikos on Sunday, while Aris are away to Xanthi. A Volos win will clinch the spot for that side, however if they fail to claim to the three points then Aris could steal 5th place with a win in Xanthi.

Elsewhere, in the final matchday of the regular season, playoff-bound AEK host Iraklis, while PAOK, also set for the playoffs, hosts Kerkyra. Relegated sides Asteras Tripolis and Panserraikos will play for pride as they take on Panionios and Ergotelis respectively. Finally, Atromitos and Kavala meet up with the former gearing up for their Greek Cup final match against AEK in two weeks.

For Panionios, Sunday’s finale to the season at Asteras Tripolis will be a celebration. The side from Nea Smyrni have produced a remarkable finish to the season and have achieved their top-flight survival. The main catalysts for the club staying in the Super League have been the managerial exploits of Takis Lemonis and the goals of on-loan Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou.

Paolo Dermitzakis’ Asteras Tripolis meanwhile floundered in the second half of the season and as a result that poor form has seen them relegated. Last week’s defeat at Panathinaikos clinched the team a spot in the second division for next season. The club will bid farewell to the Super League on Sunday after a decent run of four seasons in the top-flight.

PAOK and Kerkyra will meet up at an empty Toumba Stadium on Sunday. PAOK will be getting set to contest the Champions’ League/Europa League playoffs after the end of the season, so the incentive to win is there in order to enter the playoffs in good shape. Kerkyra meanwhile will be celebrating their survival in the Super League after their crucial 1-0 win over Ergotelis last weekend.

It will be a sad day for home supporters in Serres as Sunday’s match for Panserraikos against Ergotelis will be the team’s last in the top-flight. After a season of struggle, Panserraikos were relegated with a few matches to spare. Ergotelis will have had no worries about relegation, however may reflect on a season where they could have perhaps challenged for Europe if they possessed a bit more consistency down the stretch.

A tumultuous Super League campaign reaches its end for AEK on Sunday against Iraklis. AEK are one of the biggest clubs in Greek football, however for long-suffering supporters this has been a difficult campaign. The bright spots include some memorable victories domestically and in Europe and of course a spot in the playoffs and the Greek Cup final, but on the other side there have been massive disappointments including heavy defeats in the Super League on a few occasions.

The season could still end on a high if the club manage to win the Greek Cup and achieve a Champions’ League spot through the playoffs. Iraklis meanwhile will be playing solely for league position on Sunday and depending on the result could finish anywhere from 8th to 13th.

Atromitos will use their league finale on Sunday against Kavala as a tune-up for their Greek Cup final in two weeks against AEK. Giorgos Donis’ side relieved themselves of any pressure in the relegation battle by defeating Olympiakos 3-1 last weekend to secure their safety. Now they will be gearing up to be one of the shock winners in Greek Cup history.

Kavala will look back on their campaign on one that might have been. The club faded in the last portion of the season meaning they narrowly missed out on a playoff spot, even though they hovered around 5th place for most of the season. For a club with some lofty ambitions, 7th place in the league will be looked at as a disappointment.

It will be a massive celebration for Olympiakos at the Karaiskakis Stadium on Sunday as the champions-elect will be crowned after their match against Larisa. Ernesto Valverde’s side will also look to set a club record by winning all 15 of their home matches in a season. Currently, Olympiakos have won all 14 of their home fixtures in the campaign with 40 goals scored and only 6 conceded. The match will be the final one for a few Olympiakos players, most notably Antonis Nikopolidis who looks set to close the curtain on a distinguished career in the game.

For Larisa, the focus will be to end the season with pride as the club will move down to the Football League, the Greek second division next season. Though expected to bounce back up to the top flight, surely Larisa have much to do in order to bring the club back to former glories.

In of the weekend’s two most important matches, Aris aim to complete their miraculous comeback for a Europa League spot by defeating Xanthi. The arrival of manager Sakis Tsiolis has coincided with Aris rising back from the dead and now reaching the final day of the season with a shot at European football next season. Last weekend’s 3-2 victory over Olympiakos Volos has Aris close enough to pip their rivals for the final playoff place.

Standing in their way will be a Xanthi who have vastly improved down the stretch and have finished the season in good form. With the possibility of newly appointed boss Marinos Ouzounidis in the stands, Xanthi will have extra incentive to finish the season strongly and end up with a spot in the top half of the table.

Olympiakos Volos face the prospect of a must-win scenario in their final match of the season against Panathinaikos. Cruising toward the playoffs a few matches back, now the Volos club have a real fight on their hands in order to finish 5th and claim a spot in Europe. After last week’s defeat to Aris, Olympiakos Volos are still two points clear, however they must win on Sunday against Panathinaikos as any other result will mean they will be out of the playoffs if Aris win away to Xanthi.

Panathinaikos will partly want to play spoiler and also look to find some form heading into the playoffs themselves. Jesualdo Ferreira’s bunch have been unimpressive in recent weeks and looked out of ideas in last week’s 1-0 win over relegated Asteras Tripolis.
