The UEFA Champions League final will be contested at Wembley in London. Yet, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur’s prospective exit means that London could be destroyed before that day!

Both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of crashing out from the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.Forget about Italy’s challenge in Europe this year, unless Inter do the impossible against Schalke on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Spanish teams Barcelona and Real Madrid have proven to be too strong this season whereas Manchester United have been widely tipped to become the last British survivor.

Indeed, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur’s fate in the UEFA Champions League has put London’s chances of featuring a local team in the final at Wembley in jeopardy. Just as Tottenham Hotspur vs Real Madrid and Manchester United vs Chelsea are set to take place, Live Soccer TV reminds you about London’s miserable state in this season’s UEFA Champions League knock-out stages.

Champions League Fiasco: Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur Maybe... And Chelsea Too?

England’s capital London is on the brink of losing all of its representatives in the UEFA Champions League as Manchester United aim to steal every bit of English football pride and honour in Europe. Earlier in the tournament, Arsenal suffered demise through the mesmerizing power of Spain’s Barcelona. The Gunners had received the backing of millions of fans across the world to finish off the invincible Catalans.

However, they cruelly failed to achieve their target despite having shown Barca what London’s Emirates Stadium was all about – an amazing stadium with die-hard home supporters. Next up on the UEFA Champions League’s death penalty list is Tottenham Hotspur.

Following their miserable 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid last week, it surely does make sense to have the majority of football fans and pundits ruling Spurs’ name out of Europe. But just as much as nothing is impossible like Schalke 04 proved it at the San Siro when they came back from a goal down to stun Inter 5-2, Tottenham Hotspur’s exit from the UEFA Champions League cannot be totally confirmed.

In any case, it will take a miracle for the Lilywhites to win semi-finals tickets. Their chances are far too small and only Chelsea stand out as the London side with the better odds to survive in the competition. Still, the Blues have headaches to cure in this quarter-final stage, since they’ll be going into Tuesday’s Manchester United vs Chelsea match with a 1-0 deficit to overturn. There could be no team from London at Wembley Stadium come May 28, in the final of the 2011 UEFA Champions League.

Try remembering the Red Devils’ last two or three defeats at Old Trafford in theUEFA Champions League; they are very few and far between. In fact, Alex Ferguson has been trying to maintain the spirit of victory at the Theatre of Dreams where nightmares are supposed to torture visitors. So far, so good; let’s just say that the Old Scot is doing pretty well!

This comes down to the fact that - more or less like Tottenham Hotspur - Chelsea have an uphill task to overcome in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League’s quarter-final tie. Isn’t it ironic to know that London’s dream of having a local team vying for the cup at Wembley come May could be shattered as soon as this week?

Should nothing stop London's total destruction, come May 28, fans of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur may have to agree on rooting for a club that is not from England's capital - Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Schalke 04 perhaps. Otherwise, they could opt to try resisting a night of wonderful UEFA Champions League football at Wembley.
