Real Madrid are currently eight points behind leaders FC Barcelona, who took advantage of the Castellans’ surprising 1-0 loss to Sporting Gijon by snatching 3 valuable points away to Villarreal. With still eight match-days to go including Day 31, Madrid are forced to grab all remaining 24 points in order to keep their title dreams alive.

This also means that they will have no other choice than coming out triumphant in 2011’s first Clasico on April 16 at the Bernabeu stadium. Yet, before thinking about their crucial encounter next weekend, they are advised to set their attention on their forthcoming league game.

"We want to take three points in Bilbao to try to make a comeback in La Liga,” Casillas was quoted saying by his club’s official website. The goalie is certain that their opponents will play with everything they have in an attempt to submit Real Madrid to their second consecutive league defeat.

“We all know how the crowd at Sam Mames roars, especially against Real Madrid,” he continued. “This gives us extra motivation. It is going to be a beautiful match... it is a fixture we are really looking forward to.”

Assistant coach Aitor Karanka reaffirmed the goalie’s point, repeating that the team would not accept anything less than a win this afternoon. “We will do our best to win three very important points,” Karanka declared.

The 2011 Copa del Rey finalists, who face their Catalan archrivals in the Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash on April 20, have expressed readiness to field in their strongest players. Winger Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo, Ricardo Kaka and Xabi Alonso are all expected to return for their team, while Gago, Pedro Leon, Khedira and Karim Benzema have been confirmed as unfit to participate in the match against Athletic Bilbao.
