2002 World Cup final spearheads #WorldCupAtHome schedule for April 24-26

The #WorldCupAtHome campaign carries on, with FIFA airing three more classics from April 24 to April 26 via YouTube. Germany are involved in two of those ties, with their 2006 World Cup clash vs Italy kicking things off. That unforgettable semi-final showdown was one of the most exciting games in the competition's recent history, as extra-time was needed to separate these two European giants. SPOILER ALERT: Klinsmann's side suffered heartbreak on home soil but put up a respectable performance nonetheless.

This match is followed up by another feisty encounter, this time between England and Argentina in 1998. Re-live the moment David Beckham went from a national treasure to a villain – though he'd eventually win over the Three Lions' fans – after his sending off. Unlike the previous match, this tie went all the way to a penalty shootout in a nail-biting conclusion. After that comes the headline replay: the 2002 FIFA World Cup final. This encounter between Germany and Brazil saw the legendary Ronaldo go head-to-head with the iconic Oliver Kahn. Unfortunately for the Germans, it was the Brazilians who emerged triumphant thanks to a Man of the Match performance from their lethal striker. Do not miss these games!

ePL EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Invitational tournament carries one full steam ahead

The Premier League is the latest competition to launch an eSports tournament during the coronavirus pandemic. ePL got competition as eLiga MX round 5 is here to add to their increasing audience

As mentioned above, the Premier League isn't the only competition to kick off an eSports tournament during the COVID-19 crisis, with Liga MX launching the eLiga MX in a bid to keep fans entertained in the absence of live games. Matchday 5 begins on Friday, April 24 and will see all the 18 teams be in action over the span of three days, with three matches taking place per day. Here is the full list of games for round 5:

April 24 (Day 1)

  • FC Juarez vs Nexcaxa

  • Atlas vs M. Morelia

  • Puebla FC vs Santos Laguna

April 25 (Day 2)

  • Tigres vs Chivas

  • Cruz Azul vs Pachuca

  • Tijuana vs Toluca

April 26 (Day 3)

  • Queretaro vs America

  • Pumas vs Club Atletico de San Luis

  • Leon vs Monterrey

This tournament has seen its audience grow, proving that there is interest in watching official football leagues and eSports collab. The first game between Necaxa and Monterrey was aired exclusively on TUDN and it registered over 27,000 viewers. The next clash between Cruz Azul and Atlas saw that figure come approximately 12,000 viewers short of doubling, hitting an impressive 42,000. However, that pales in comparison with the number of people that tuned in for the clash between Tigres and Club Atletico de San Luis which was 620,000!

Eredivisie planning on cancelling the season due to recent Netherlands guidelines

Eredivisie looks to cancel the 2019/20 season after Netherlands announced an extension to the suspension of professional football until September. This would make it difficult for the Dutch top-flight to wrap up the current campaign. In a statement, they revealed their intentions for ending the season but stated that they have reached out to UEFA for advice and will wait for that before making a final decision.

Ozil stirs up controversy after reportedly rejecting wage reduction at Arsenal

Arsenal was the first Premier League club to announce wage reductions in order to pay the bills during the coronavirus pandemic. However, shortly afterward, a storm brew up when it was reported by the Mirror that three players turned this down, with only one name being confirmed: Mesut Ozil. The German, while being one of the most charitable players in football, is the highest-paid athlete at Arsenal. This sparked a huge debate on social media, with several criticizing the playmaker while many others defended the World Cup winner.
