In our match preview informing you where and how to watch the Tournoi de France’s match between the Netherlands and Brazil, we compare both teams going into the tournament, analyze their head-to-head record, and point out players to watch.

The Netherlands will take on Brazil on Tuesday, March 4, in Valenciennes as the second-ever match in Tournoi de France history.

The dutch are the clear favorite in this matchup given their late success, having reached the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup final and entering the Tournoi de France with the highest ranking (No. 3).

Sarina Wiegman and her Orange Lionesses have only improved ever since reaching 13th place in the nation's first Women's World Cup in 2015. The Netherlands went on to win the 2017 UEFA Women's Championship in home soil, where they won all its matches. And a second-place finish in its second World Cup, France 2019, once again showed immense improvement from its previous finish.

As for Pia Sundhage and Brazil, it is time for them to have success away from South America.

The South American queens have won seven of eight possible Copa America Feminina since the competition's inception in 1991. But they have chocked in every major competition that involves members from elsewhere on the planet.

The Verde-Amarela's greatest successes at international tournaments have been the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, where they won silver both times. In terms of Women's World Cups, their best two finishes are second place at China 2007 and third place at USA 1999.

Having qualified for Tokyo 2020, Brazil will aim to pick up its pace by winning the Tournoi de France and head to Tokyo on a positive note.

The Netherlands vs Brazil: Head-to-head

Surprisingly enough, these two nations have never met before in history. But this gives you a perfect opportunity to look at the Netherlands and Brazil's form coming into this tournament.

The Netherlands has not lost or tied a single match since its loss against the USWNT on July 7, 2019, at the Women's World Cup final. UEFA Women's Championship qualifying wins over Estonia, Turkey, Slovenia and Russia – Turkey and Slovenia twice – have given Dutch players a morale boost. That good form and morale will most likely translate on Wednesday's match.

On the other hand, Brazil has not been as lethal as their future opponents losing two of its last eight games, even though both losses have been decided via penalty shootouts. The first loss happened in the Torneo Internacional Feminino final against Chile and the second at the Yongchuan Tournament final against the competition's host, China. On a good note, brazil defeated Argentina, No. 6 England, Poland, No. 8 Canada and Mexico twice.

The Netherlands vs Brazil: Players to watch

The Netherlands – Vivianne Miedema

The Dutch all-time goalscorer at just age 23 has to be the Netherlands player to watch coming into the match versus Brazil. The Gunner currently leads the FA Women's Super League in goals and assists and despite Arsenal's drop in form. It will be a matter of whether her teammates can get the ball to her feet in dangerous positions. If so, Miedema will take care of the rest.

Brazil – Marta

Regardless of her faith and perseverance, Marta should be somewhat frustrated with her career at the international stage. The Brazilian captain has not won a World Cup or claimed an Olympic gold medal in her 18 years representing her beloved country. Now, at age 34, it is clinical for her to lead her team to international success. Winning the Tournoi de France would be a step forward to win gold in Tokyo 2020. Marta's passion and skill will help Sunhadge's team efforts in doing so.
