Milan and Juventus will lock horns in the Coppa Italia, and it goes without saying that both sides will be eager to pick up a win in the first leg.

Preview: Milan vs Juventus

Both Milan and Juventus come into this game having lost their respective fixtures, but arguably, it's Juve's loss that is that much more shocking. The Bianconeri ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against minnows Hellas Verona, and it's their second defeat in their last three games after losing to Maurizio Sarri's side Napoli only a couple weeks ago. That result sees them slip back down into second, behind Inter on goal difference, but many reports coming out of Italy already now have Sarri's job on the line.

The former Chelsea and Napoli boss will be under pressure then to get things right in the upcoming Coppa Italia clash with Milan at the Stadio San Siro. Juventus notably ended up crashing out early in this competition when they shockingly were dumped out by Atalanta, and he certainly will not want to see his team throw away a chance to win this competition this time around after already losing the Supercoppa Italiana to Lazio at the end of last year.

Meanwhile, Milan lost 4-2 to Inter in the Derby della Madonnina, which will be very disappointing for Stefano Pioli. The Rossoneri had taken a two goal lead thanks to a goal and assist from veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but crumbled in the second half as Antonio Conte's men came roaring back to blitz them and scored four goals sans reply.

For the Rossoneri, the Coppa Italia represents their only realistic chance at silverware this season, but they will need to find a way past a two-legged contest against reigning Scudetto champions Juventus. That being said, La Vecchia Signora have not looked totally unbeatable this term, as evidenced by their loss to Hellas Verona and Napoli in recent weeks, so Milan, led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, will keep that in mind as they welcome Sarri's side to the Stadio San Siro for leg one of their two-part semi-final this Thursday.
