What is the form of Arsenal compared to Leeds?

Arsenal have finally put their winless run to an end. After going five straight games without a win since the 3-1 victory at West Ham under Freddie Ljungberg, Mikel Arteta led the Gunners to a 2-0 triumph at home to Man United in the league. The north London giants still boast only two wins from their last 16 games across all competitions (D8, L6) but there have been signs of improvement since appointing their new boss.

Meanwhile, Leeds’ form has been all too great as well. They have won only once in their last five games, losing once and drawing the remaining three fixtures. However, before that, the Peacocks enjoyed a seven-game winning streak prior to this atrocious run.

Leeds have not beaten Arsenal since May 2003. In fact, the last six clashes between these two clubs have ended in five victories for the Gunners, with the Peacocks picking up a draw on one occasion. Despite all of this, the head-to-head record is quite close.

Team news

Arsenal are likely to make several changes to their squad for this game. Although the Gunners are suffering from several injuries, the likes of Ozil, Aubameyang, and Lacazette could be given a rest after the congested festive period.

Ceballos returned from injury and made the bench in the win over Man United and could make his return to the lineup in this game. Tierney and Chambers are sidelined while Bellerin, Kolasinac, and Martinelli are doubts.

As for the away side, Illan Meslier and Robbie Gotts will be making their debuts. Barry Douglas, Gaetano Berardi and Ezgjan Alioski will also start this tie but the same can’t be said for Pablo Hernandez, Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw who are out injured.
