Regardless, they still are in second and boast a one-point lead over Guardiola's outfit.

Team news

The home side have little to no worries in the injury department. Long-term absentee Matty James is the only unavailable name for this clash with the Reds. Meanwhile, Çaglar Söyüncü is one yellow card away from suspension, which means he could miss the December 28th trip to West Ham.

As for Jurgen Klopp, he has quite a few concerns. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up an ankle injury during the recent FIFA Club World Cup final against Flamengo, leaving the Englishman in crutches during the celebrations.

However, the Premier League leaders' biggest worry is the defense. Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren are both on the sidelines, leaving Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk as the only two senior center-backs at Klopp's disposal. Fabinho and Clyne are also out, which means the likes of Jordan Henderson and James Milner will be forced to cover if a defender takes a knock during the hectic festive period.
