Monterrey won the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League for the fourth time in less than ten years, with the hopes of reaching the final intact. Rayados finished third in 2012 after losing their semi-final tie against Chelsea, and in this edition, the North American club defeated Al Sadd to reach the final four stage.
