The main purpose of international friendly matches is to serve as rehearsals ahead of international competitions for national teams. However, Australia’s German coach Holger Osieck is sure that Joachim Lowe’s side won’t approach the game without desire to win.

The Socceroos' boss claims to know Germany’s supporters very well and he believes that their perfectionism will present Australia with a tough game on Tuesday.

“I am pretty sure that Germany will take it very seriously, because the public there is very demanding,” Holger Osieck told FIFA.com.

“Every time the team plays an international match, the fans don’t just ask for a good result. They expect a good performance too.

“I know the mentality here. When you have some not-so-good performances, the media will be merciless. There will be no friendly aspect as far as they are concerned.”

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Joachim Lowe will give a chance for young players to develop against the Socceroos. “Mesut [Özil} and Sami [Khedira] will not be featuring against Australia,” as Germany’s coach declaired.

“That was previously arranged, knowing that the pair has some hard games coming up with Real Madrid. But Hummels and Schuerrle will start because they’ve impressed me in the Bundesliga.”

Without the services of the injured Tim Cahill, Osieck’s Australia will hope to correct themselves from the heavy defeat they suffered against Germany during the 2010 World Cup. Germany, by the way, will be looking to seal their international break on a good note after maintaining their perfect record in the Euro 2012 qualifiers with a win over Azerbaijan last weekend.
