A couple of familiar foes will face each other one more time after El Tri's woeful trip to Argentina back in 2018.

The FIFA International Break is about to come to an end, and what better way to say goodbye to it with a clash between Argentina and Mexico.

These sides have met quite a few times in the past few years, with clashes between La Albiceleste and the CONCACAF giants in FIFA World Cup games and Copa América matchups. Curiously, the last two meetings between these sides took place in Argentina, with the two-time World Champions claiming similar 2-0 wins against El Tri, back in November of 2018.

Argentina will enter this game fresh off a goalless draw against Chile last week, where the team's need of Lionel Messi's skills was palpable one more time. For this game, coach Lionel Scaloni might want to see Paul Dybala and Giovani Lo Celso working their magic against Mexico, who seems to have hit the nail on its head by hiring former Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino as their coach.

Speaking about Mexico, the North American giants have claimed two straight wins against the USMNT (one of them in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final) to boost their confidence ahead of this game. Mexico ended a 42-year streak without a win against the USMNT over American soil, and they will try to do the same against La Albiceleste, a team they have not defeated since 2004.

This will be the 31st game between Argentina and Mexico. Out of the 30 previous games between these national teams, La Albiceleste has earned 14 wins, with 12 draws and only four wins for Mexico. The last friendly game between Mexico and La Albiceleste in the U.S. concluded in an exciting 2-2 draw, which makes us believe that fans at the Alamodome and those watching on TV will certainly enjoy this clash.
