One of Cristiano Ronaldo’s biggest objectives as a Real Madrid player – since quitting Manchester United – has been to win the UEFA Champions League with the Spanish giants. But last season, Ronaldo and his team mates disappointingly failed to achieve anything in Europe.

Their new-look squad was apparently not ready enough to crumble the big rock that has been denying them the path to the quarter-finals of the Champions League since the past years. So how many more seasons must go by before the Spanish giants break their Last 16 jinx?

Actually, this knock-out stage tie is a repeat of last year’s, so losing back to back will be even more disastrous for the Spanish giants. After spending all those years under a Champions League curse, Real Madrid supporters would want to believe that the storm is over.

However, they cannot expect the soldiers on the field to fight the battle alone; that’s what Coach Jose Mourinho and the entire team have stated. Real Madrid’s supporters need to step up a level.

They need to sacrifice their strength and raise their voices. They need to cast their fears away and unite in one spirit – the spirit of the 12th man.
