The climax of the European competition was a shadow of what many fans anticipated.

Football fans all over the world have expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of play in the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League Final. The all-English affair failed to live up to the hype despite both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur pulling off dramatic victories in their respective penultimate matches.

Having suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Barcelona in the first-leg of the European cup competition, the former staged an incredible remontada at Anfield to run away with a 4-3 aggregate win. Relatively, a Lucas Moura hat trick inspired a 3-2 win at Amsterdam for Spurs who qualified on away-goal advantage after falling to a 1-0 home defeat against Ajax.

Nevertheless, the final encounter between the two Premier League sides provided very little excitement with Liverpool eventually running off with a 2-0 win. Aside the bizarre pitch-invading moment, there was very little to shout about after Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for the Reds in the early minutes of the match.

The drab nature of the game continued in the second half although there were a few instances where Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen almost restored parity. The game was ultimately put out of Spurs' reach after substitute Divock Origi sealed the win for Liverpool with a low finish to Hugo Lloris' right in the 87th minute.

Despite the Reds securing a sixth European trophy as a result, many fans are not overly convinced about their performance as well as the challenge Tottenham presented inside the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid. Below are of the reactions of some fans on Twitter:
