Cristiano Ronaldo Feared Seriously Injured As Real Madrid’s Battles Aren’t Over

Right after netting his hat-trick, Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t play the remainder of the match and thus asked to come off – leaving Los Blancos down to 10 men on the pitch as Coach Jose Mourinho had used all his substitutes. Talking to The Canadian Press, the Real Madrid manager expressed his worry at the issue as he stated:

“I don't know. It seems like a serious injury.

“That's the negative note from the game. The worse thing is that Ronaldo doesn't just do small things [for Real Madrid during games].”

Cristiano Ronaldo is indeed the Spanish giants’ most influential player. He is Real Madrid’s top scorer – not only in La Liga, but in both the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.

Ronaldo has also played more minutes than any of his team mates, so it would be a big blow for Real Madrid to lose him. However, the player has downplayed the intensity of his hamstring injury. Through the club’s official website, Cristiano Ronaldo explained the matter:

“I injured my left leg when I used it for support as I was scoring my third goal. But I'm sure that it's nothing serious and that I'll be able to play the next match.

“We were clearly winning [7-0 after 77 minutes] when it happened, so I decided it was best not to push it [and to eventually come off].”

This weekend, Real Madrid play away to Racing Santander. Earlier this season, Los Blancos hammered Racing 6-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring 4 goals in succession in that match after Higuain had opened the scoring.

The Spanish giants are hoping to have CR7 available for Sunday’s game as they have vowed to fight for La Liga title until the end. But with recent news from Real Madrid claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be sidelined for 10 to 15 days, it looks as if the Portuguese may even miss the Champions League game against Lyon on March 16.
