Barcelona's Trio of Doom granted Pep Guardiola a major victory last Saturday with three exquisite goals.
Lio Messi finally became Liga's top striker last week in his 251st cap wearing the Blaugrana shirt. Unlike Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo -the Portuguese striker hoards half the goals scored by Jose Mourinho's Blancos so far- Barcelona's offensive has proven to be much more versatile. Figures do not lie.

The fact that David Villa and Pedro have scored 21 and 20 goals each makes them one of the deadliest attacking duos in the Spanish League. In fact in 34 out of the 42 games played so far at least Messi or one of them had a chance to taste the net.

Andres Iniesta and Xavi play a vital role in the midfield. Their depth of view and finesse sharpens Barcelona's trident even more, as it's clearly shown with a quick look at the statics: Only once in all the games Messi, Pedro and Villa have played together from the first minute on, the three of them failed to score, as Barcelona faced Athletic for the King's Cup. Sporting and Mallorca

Only Eric Abidal, Maxwell, Adriano, Ibrahim Affelay and Javier Mascherano have not yet joined the Three Musketeers with a goal. Barcelona's excellent offensive form (76 goals scored in 25 Liga games, a goal average higher than 3 goals per game) is the result of an excellent collective work and not the addition of numerous individual capabilities, as Guardiola's Blaugranas have proven before without Messi or Villa for a few weeks in the first half of the tournament.

Five times have Messi, Pedro and Villa joined the party together, scoring each at least one goal in the same game. Before last week in Mallorca, Panathinaikos, Getafe, Deportivo and Almeria suffered Barcelona's engine running at full capacity, no matter whether Guardiola's boys were playing at the Camp Nou or away.

The next three games will be vital for Barcelona. First of all, they must visit the Mestalla this Wednesday to secure a safe buffer zone from Real Madrid. Later, they are given a chance to relax as they visit la Romareda to take on Zaragoza, but Arsenal and Sevilla will be waiting afterwards and won't give in without a fight.
