The 30-year-old's double fired the Bavarians to a remarkable 5-1 away win on Saturday.

Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski achieved a couple of milestones as his side cruised to an emphatic 5-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

The Polish forward's double in the encounter took his career goal tally in the Bundesliga to 195, making him the joint-highest-scoring non-German players in the league's history alongside Werder Bremen's Claudio Pizarro.

Lewandowski's first major contribution in the game was to prevent the host from staging an unlikely comeback after Lars Stindl had canceled one of two goals scored earlier by Javi Martinez and Thomas Muller. Serge Gnabry subsequently grabbed Bayern's fourth of the game before Lewandowski buried a spot-kick in added time.

Bar attaining the landmark of being the highest scoring non-German player in the Bundesliga, the 30-year-old striker also moved up to third on Bayern Munich's all-time top goalscorers' list in the competition.

Momentarily, Lewandowski has scored 120 goals in the league for the Bavarians since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2014. In the ongoing campaign, the striker has managed 15 goals in 23 appearances.

The legendary Gerd Muller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge now remain the only two players in Bayern's history to have managed more than the Polish striker. The pair registered 365 and 162 goals during their respective stints.

Victory for Bayern Munich on Saturday also means that Niko Kovac's men are now level on points with leaders Dortmund (54). Before the turn of the year, the Signal Iduna outfit led their title rivals by nine points.
