The Spanish boss is still tempted by the possibility of having to play against Los Blancos without his key man.

Barcelona fans can sleep tight ahead of the first Clásico in 2019: Lionel Messi has made it into the squad that will face Real Madrid this Wednesday.

The footballer trained along with the rest of the team during Tuesday's session, leaving the decision to include the Argentine ace in the squad up to Ernesto Valverde. Since the player made it through without any further complications to his thigh problem, he has been declared fit to play on Wednesday.

Valverde did not confirm if Messi will start the game against Los Blancos despite this developments.

"The main thing comes when the player tells you he is fit. If he does not feel up for the challenge, then you should not risk him. It will be up to us to hand him a spot in the lineup now," Valverde said.

This was confirmed when Barcelona unveiled the squad for tomorrow's clash.

The main absence for Barcelona will be that of Ousmane Dembelé, who also trained with the rest of his team-mates prior to tomorrow's game. Nevertheless, Ernesto Valverde decided to keep him on the sidelines due to the nature of his injury.
