The Argentine boss defended Real Madrid's spot among the greatest teams in the 2010's after the Catalan boss snubbed Los Blancos in a recent interview.

Pep Guardiola's recent interview raised a few eyebrows among football fans for two reasons. The Catalan boss spoke to the Manchester Evening News about which teams he considered to be the best from 2010 to 2019, and he did not hesitate to leave Los Blancos out of his shortlist.

"Juventus, Bayern and Barcelona. Those three teams are the best. Why? Because they win their league year after year, they go on to win the cup, they are always there fighting for the big titles. We have to try and imitate them, you have to admire their consistency over 11 months, when they have to play twice every three days," Guardiola said on Monday.

The first reason why fans doubted Pep's words came when they realized that two of those teams were coached by him in the past. But things took a turn to the ugly side when Real Madrid's coach got words of Guardiola's statement.

Santiago Solari took aim at Pep over his comments without holding back, since he believed that Guardiola's snub of Real Madrid was planned.

"What Guardiola said seems to be a deliberate omission. We are not going to fight over a decade, since Real Madrid is the greatest club of all time. If that is not enough, we'll have to include the last decade," Solari said.

"Real Madrid has to be considered the best team in history mainly because it does not underestimate any of its rivals," Solari added.

Los Blancos have been named as one of the best teams in the decade due to their four UEFA Champions League titles in five years, added to more domestic accolades that include two leagues. On the other side, Pep Guardiola's teams have dominated their domestic scenarios, but he has not been able to win a third UCL title since 2011.
