The Blues may have to turn their attention elsewhere with PSG closing in on the midfielder's signing.

Chelsea risks missing out on the signing of Zenit St Petersburg's Leandro Parades with reports claiming that he is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain. Fans of the Blues are anticipating the Argentine international's arrival after he was said to have been identified by Maurizio Sarri as Cesc Fabregas' replacement.

The Spanish midfielder ended his stint with the London club in this winter transfer window by reuniting with his former teammate at Arsenal and now-head coach of AS Monaco Thierry Henry in the French Ligue 1.

As per Russian news outlet Sport Express, Paris Saint-Germain is rather closer to finalizing Paredes' transfer after making a breakthrough in the negotiations. As such, Zenit's executive director Pavel Pivovarov is said to be on his way to Paris to continue the talks.

There, PSG are expected to submit an offer in the region of €48 million (£41.8 million) to secure the service of the midfielder. In turn, the Argentine is expected to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Parisians.

While Chelsea wants Paredes as the replacement for Fabregas, Thomas Tuchel seeks to recruit the former AS Roma player to fill the void that will be left by Adrien Rabiot. The French midfielder is expected to depart from the Ligue 1 side after refusing to sign a new deal.
