League leaders Liverpool will look to sign off on 2018 with a win as they lock horns with Arsenal in their last game of the year. Or will Arsenal end their own hoodoo at Anfield? Catch Liverpool vs Arsenal on NBC in the USA and BT Sport 1 in the UK.

Current form: Liverpool vs Arsenal

Six points clear of the chasing pack, Liverpool will head into 2019 as "winter champions". Of course, that means little to Jurgen Klopp, who saw his side notably leading the way during the 2015/2016 season, but ended up bitterly disappointed as they ultimately ended up sans silverware. The Reds were bested to the Premier League title by Leicester City, and had to settle for a runners-up medal in both the League Cup and the Europa League after losing to Manchester City and Sevilla respectively. And their run in the FA Cup ended in the fourth round following an extra-time defeat to West Ham.

Ironically, it was a Sevilla side led by Unai Emery that denied Jurgen Klopp's side glory in the Europa League final, and it will be the same Emery that Klopp will come up against on Saturday as the Reds aim to maintain their unbeaten run this season. With five straight wins from their last five games, and a solid recent record against Arsenal at Anfield, Liverpool are certainly looking like the favorites to come out on top here - on paper, at least.

Arsenal, naturally, will have other ideas. The Gunners have slipped out of the top four after a draw midweek against Brighton, and sit two points behind London rivals Chelsea. A shock defeat to struggling side Southampton certainly has not helped their top-four chances, either. Nonetheless, led by the brilliant duo of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, they will certainly put a lot of pressure on Liverpool's back-line, especially with the former currently being the Premier League's goal-scorer with 13 goals.

That being said, Liverpool's defense has conceded a measly seven goals so far from 19 games, and with Virgil van Dijk and Alisson at the heart of the Reds' rear-guard, it will indeed be an interesting tussle as they look to contend with the likes of Aubameyang - who has been in great goalscoring form this season.

Team news: Liverpool vs Arsenal

Liverpool: Klopp has some injury absentees, including Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Joseph Gomez, and Joel Matip while James Milner and Alberto Moreno are in doubt this clash. Nonetheless, the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss overall has a pretty strong squad to pick from for this key fixture.

Arsenal: The visitors, on the other hand, come into this game with a long injury list. Rob Holding, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Danny Welbeck, Emile Smith-Rowe, Hector Bellerin, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are all out for this game. Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal, and Laurent Koscielny are all doubts, with Koscielny being highly unlikely to feature after suffering a knock during Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Brighton on Boxing Day.
