Porto will resume their UEFA Europa League campaign in style on Thursday as they’ll play against Los Nervionense in Sevilla. This city represents a lot to the Portuguese giants.

Back in 2003, Porto were led by the influential Jose Mourinho all the way to the final of the UEFA Cup – a competition which has been renamed as the Europa League. The Dragons had to face Celtic in a mouth-watering cup final match officiated by the controversial Michel Lubos.

A brace from Larsson forced Porto into extra-time, but Derlei’s winner five minutes from the end of proceedings stole the trophy for the Portuguese side. This dramatic encounter happened in Sevilla and Porto will return there for the first time since that historic moment.

“It will be very emotional for Porto to return to Sevilla,” Coach Andre Villas-Boas affirmed according to Reuters.

“It’s a city which has a great meaning to all Porto fans. It is good to travel there again, and Sevilla are also great opponents.”

The 33-year-old manager, who is compared to Jose Mourinho for his special touch and his looks has been tipped to lead Porto to glory in the Europa League this season. Under Villas-Boas, the Dragons have proven to be a great force – not only in Portugal but at the continental level too. Can he help Porto make a dream return to Sevilla?
