PSG will be hoping to set a historical record as they take on Lyon at the Parc des Princes on Sunday, October 7th.

Match Preview

It's been a perfect start to the season for Thomas Tuchel's men, who have won their first eight Ligue 1 fixtures. Les Parisiens come into this game having cruised to a 6-1 win over Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade midweek, and the German tactician is expected to slightly rotate his squad for the visit of Lyon this Sunday.

Gianluigi Buffon could return in between the posts after missing that game due to suspension, while Marquinhos could also feature as Adrien Rabiot will not feature in this game as a result of a ban. Dani Alves is still out injured, along with Lass Diarra and  Layvin Kurzawa, but other from that, Tuchel has everyone of note available. He will be expected to use the same attacking formation that will star the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani, and Angel Di Maria for this fixture as despite PSG enjoying a five point lead over the chasing pack, the hosts will not be leaving anything to chance.

Meanwhile, visiting side Lyon come into this game having had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk in their midweek Champions League tie. Nonetheless, Les Gones are still top of their quartet, ahead of Manchester City, and the draw will be quite a relief as they did have to come from 2-0 down against the Eastern European outfit.

Will they become the first team to halt the PSG juggernaut this season? Should PSG win on Sunday, it will be the first time any team has won their first nine games to start a Ligue 1 season in French football history.
