The Croatian ace had been tipped to follow Cristiano Ronaldo to Serie A to join Inter Milan.

Real Madrid looks to have avoided a disaster, as Luka Modric appears set to stay at the club. Rumors had been linking the midfielder with a move away from La Liga, but recent reports coming out of Spain claim he has committed his future to the club.

According to Marca, the Croatian ace has agreed to a new deal with Los Blancos, putting an end to the exit fears. No official announcement has been made but this is a claim also backed up by AS.

The 32-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan. After losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, seeing their playmaker follow him to Serie A would have been a fatal blow to the reigning Champions League holder.

With his new deal at Santiago Bernabeu comes new terms. While Marca made no mention of an extension, the Spanish new outlet highlighted a pay-raise.

The report claims that he will on an identical wage package as club captain Sergio Ramos, with only Gareth Bale earning more than the former Tottenham ace.  This move is seen as a reward for Modric for his unforgettable World Cup campaign and for helping the club win three Champions League crowns in a row.

This will come as a huge boost for Julen Lopetegui, as he will not lose another key member at Real Madrid with the transfer window deadline day drawing closer in Spain.  The Merengues board can also rest assured that their midfield maestro is going nowhere.

Modric is currently back with his club after missing most of the pre-season due to the World Cup. The Croat will be hoping for playing time for their upcoming clash with AC Milan before the team faces Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.
