A few milestones have already been attained in the first league game of the season.

Manchester United started the 2018/2019 Premier League season on a good note, thanks to goals by Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw which aided the club in clinching a 2-1 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford. The latter, who has been subjected to criticisms in recent years with his fitness being the dominant subject, impressed massively on both defensive and attacking fronts for the Red Devils.

The 23-year-old momentarily muted his antagonists in prime fashion by expertly controlling and tapping home a cross from Juan Mata in the 83rd-minute after Paul Pogba had given the Red Devils the lead from the penalty spot in the first two minutes of the proceeding.

The night's fate meant that it took Luke Shaw 67 appearances to get his first-ever Manchester United goal having joined the club from Southampton in 2014. For Paul Pogba, his opening goal tied him level with former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel as the two players to have scored 11 Premier League goals and ended up on the winning side in all of them.

Jose Mourinho also had a minute achievement to rave about as the victory over Leicester City extended his unbeaten run in opening Premier League games to 18. The Portuguese manager has won 11 and drawn seven, winning nine of his last 10 league outings.
