President Tebas has a theory about the Ronaldo-Juve transfer.

La Liga president Javier Tebas says Spain's high tax rate was a huge deciding factor in Cristiano Ronaldo joining Juventus from Real Madrid. The 33-year-old forward sent a shockwave around the world after he asked that his contract with Los Blancos be terminated in order for him to move to Turin.

The Bianconeri paid 105 million euros to secure the player's service from Madrid, bringing an unexpected end to a very decorated career. Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, penned a four-year deal worth 30 million euros per annum.

Although the Portuguese forward explained his decision for leaving as one motivated by his desire to seek a new adventure, Tebas has enough reason to believe that the move was somewhat motivated by money, considering he will earn more in Italy than in Spain.

"He'll earn more money than here," Tebas declared on Marca TV.

"It's not that elsewhere the rate is so much lower, but when you're earning significant sums then these little differences in rates translate to a lot of money for the players."

It is worth-noting that Cristiano Ronaldo was recently fined an amount of 18.8 million euros by the Spanish tax authority after being found guilty of tax fraud. Although a minor prison term accompanied, the Portuguese forward did not serve any jail time as he was a first-time offender.
