The 2018 World Cup endured an epic ending and its stars were duly rewarded.

France, for the second time in their football history, have won the World Cup after beating Croatia 4-2 inside the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Sunday. With that in the bag, some Les Bleus members received recognitions for their standout performances throughout the campaign.

For starters, 19-year-old prodigy Kylian Mbappe was adjudged the Best Young Player of the tournament. The forward who was prolific for France, scoring in the final and finishing as the joint-top scorer for the new world champions alongside Antoine Griezmann with four goals.

Still in the goal department. England's Harry Kane won the Golden Boot with his six goals despite failing to find the back of the net in the knockout stages. Antoine Griezmann and Romelu Lukaku followed suit for the Silver and Bronze Boots with four goals apiece.

Belgium's Thibaut Courtois beat competition from Lloris and Subasic to clinch the Golden Glove whereas Spain – who were eliminated in the Round 16 by Russia - was awarded the Fair Play trophy.

However, the biggest award of the night, the Golden Ball award, went to Croatian skipper Luka Modric for his immense contribution to his side's run to the final. Belgium's Eden Hazard and France's Antoine Griezmann won the Silver and Bronze Balls respectively.
