The English footballer scored the first goal of the evening for the Three Lions thanks to a well-placed free kick.

This has been quite the World Cup for England, and now the Three Lions have a few records to call themselves taller than almost all the teams that have previously defended that crest.

Kieran Trippier's opening goal saw Gareth Southgate's side setting a couple of records for the English National Team, while also earning a spot in World Cup history.

No other team had scored as many goals as this English team. How many? Have a look.

Going back to 1966, the English team playing in Russia is now the best in history when their strikers are in front of goal.

"England has scored its 12th goal in Russia 2018, beating their previous record (11 in 1966). Nine of those have come via set pieces."

If that was not enough, the English side also made it to the World Cup's all-time record books with Trippier's delightful finish.

"4:44 - Kieran Trippier has scored the earliest fgoal in a semi-final or final clash since Johan Neeskens' in 1974 (1:26 in the final vs Germany). Early riser"
