The former Man United legend shared his insight on what has been the transfer of the summer due by his relationship with the striker.

Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from Real Madrid generated numerous comments, but none were as revealing as Ryan Giggs' insight on this transfer.

Speaking to ITV, Wales' coach shared his views on this transfer, and knowing Cristiano like he does, Giggs revealed that the Portuguese ace's main reason to leave Real Madrid was none other than having the upper hand when being compared with Lionel Messi.

"Cristiano is obsessed with beating Messi. Now, he can go out and say that he won it all in England, in Spain, and also with Portugal. Maybe now he's thinking 'I'll do that now in Italy'. That will help him make a case for himself when he is asked if he is better than Messi," Giggs stated.

Despite his impressive resume, Giggs doesn't feel that, at 33, Cristiano Ronaldo will be able to replicate his usual antics in Italy, although he wished his former teammate all the best.

"Having Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus in your CV is something. Winning everything with all of them will be a major challenge for Cristiano," Giggs added.
